Rhys Priestland kicked the Blue, Black and White into a 3-0 lead as early as the fifth minute with a penalty and 10 minutes later he doubled the hosts' lead with another penalty to make it 6-0.
Harlequins turned the game on its head on the half hour mark when Tim Visser crossed the try line and Ruaridh Jackson knocked the conversion through the posts. 6-7.
Bath restored their lead via the boot of Priestland five minutes before half-time as his third penalty of the afternoon had the score at 9-7.
Marland Yarde scored the second and final Quins try in the 47th minute but Jackson could not score the conversion. Bath trailed 9-12 but the visitors' scoring was done for the day and Bath came back.
First, Max Clark scored Bath's one and only try in the 63rd minute for 14-12 and Priestland scored the conversion for the extra two points.
Two more Priestland penalties made the game safe for Bath, in the 75th and 78th minute respectively, to win the game 22-12 for Bath.
