MATCH REPORT: England 19-16 France
England edged to Six Nations opening day victory over France with a 19-16 win at Twickenham.
The win meant that England recorded a national record 15th win on the spin while France lost their sixth game in a row on the road.
Camille Lopez scored a sixth-minute penalty to give France a 3-0 lead early on but two minutes later Owen Farrell knocked over a penalty of his own to tie the match up again.
Lopez made it 6-3 and 9-3 with a further two penalties and Farrell scored another three points for England to have score at 9-6.
Elliot Daly scored a penalty too, in the 38th minute, to make the half-time score 9-9.
The penalty scoring would continue, Farrell again, and England had a 12-9 lead.
France finally scored the first try of the game, on the hour mark, when the powerful Rabah Slimani bulldozed his way through the England defence to score. Lopez notched the conversion for 16-12.
England snatched the win 10 minutes from time though when substitute Ben Te'o raced over the try line. Farrell converted to be sure of the points.
