Your Total Guide To sport

Six Reasons You Should Watch The Six Nations 2016

If you're a sports fan it may not have escaped your attention that a rather large tournament by the name of the Six Nations is currently going on. Not thrilled with rugby? Or Unconvinced as to whether the tournament is worth your viewing time? Allow Total Sport to explain why you should tune in.

1. The challenges you'll see are... interesting...

Testosterone fuelled and always looking to make their mark. Meaty challenges in the Six Nations are what make the tournament so difficult to peel your eyes away from. Take a look at the best of the 2015 big hits below!

2. Morgan Freeman is a Six Nations fan, and who can resist that voice!?

Silky smooth and oh so convincing. Morgan Freeman has previously offered his services to the Six Nations as a voice over for their promotional trailer. Citing the words of Invictus, any rugby non-believers were soon converted once the dulcet tones of Freeman got involved...

3. Hear national anthems, belted out loud and proud

This isn't football. You won't find eleven blokes stood shiftily side by side, silently mouthing an anthem they pretend not to know. This is the Six Nations, and national pride across rugby players and fans is rife and riddled with emotion. There's nothing quite like the Flower Of Scotland roaring out  across a 70,000 seater stadium before a big clash.

4. It's a sport never too far away from the bloopers highlight reel

With plenty of fast-paced action, precision ball control and split-second decision making, rugby is always a sport in which calamitous errors can occur. With the Six Nations tournament being the showcase of northern hemisphere rugby with stakes high and pressure ever present, killer mistakes could be just around the corner...

5. You'll be watching finely, finely tuned athletes

Now, whether this appeals from a sporting perspective or purely from an aesthetic perspective, the Six Nations certainly boasts some of the most impressively shaped athletes in the world of rugby union. Ladies who never previously have cared too much for rugby may now find themselves with a new number one spectating sport...

6. Anyone can win!

This isn't like a World Cup, where you can distinguish between the certainties and the no-hopers straight away. The Six Nations is much smaller, consisting of rival northern hemisphere nations who each believe they can call the number upon one another. Reigning champions Ireland may have something to say about it, but the 2016 RBS Six Nations could be taken by anyone. Consistent excitement, guaranteed.
