Team Bath hurdler Jack Green qualifies for semi-final
Team Bath 400m hurdler Jack Green booked his place in the semi-final after finishing second in the preliminary round.
Green was seventh going into the home straight but produced a fantastic late surge to qualify for the next round in second place, beating American Byron Robinson in third by .2 of a second.
The 24-year-old ran a season best of 48.96 seconds, which was also his second fastest time ever, and at the end of the race he bravely spoke about his battle with mental illness in recent years.
"I have got a lot of gratitude now." Green told the BBC.
"I really appreciate this journey, I didn't last time (in London). I just saw it as another step up the ladder thinking I could win this and that and this is a hard sport, hard mentally and physically and I really appreciate that now - I think that is why I'm running well.
"Yeah I'm in a really good (place now). I'm not in medication because I can't run on it and I'm doing alright because we made a lot of steps forward in terms of my mental health and psychology and working with people and things are in a great place."
Green's semi-final will be on Wednesday morning at around 1:35.
