Team Bath's Rachel Shaw recalled to England squad
Team Bath Netball’s Rachel Shaw has been recalled to the England squad for the forthcoming Netball Quad Series against Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.
The first half of the Vitality Netball International Series will be played in Durban, South Africa, before the action moves to England for the concluding matches.
The Roses’ U21 squad – coached by Team Bath’s Emily Perry and Denise Ellis, and including University of Bath Sport Performance student Paige Reed – are also touring South Africa in January as they continue their preparations for next summer’s Netball World Youth Cup in Botswana.
Shaw, who plays at Goal Attack or Wing Attack, last wore the famous England red dress in January of this year during the three-match series against Australia.
“Absolutely over the moon with the @England_Netball news today,” Shaw tweeted. “Been a tough ride but I’m back and ready to put that dress back on.”
Former Team Bath defender Ama Agbeze will captain a squad that also contains two more players to have started their careers with the Blue and Gold, Kadeen Corbin and Summer Artman.
The latter, who helped Team Bath finish runners-up in the inaugural U21 September Showdown this year, has also been named in the England U21 squad for their January tour along with Reed.
Before heading off on international duty, Shaw and Reed will line up in the Blue and Gold as Team Bath host a tri-tournament against fellow Superleague sides Loughborough Lightning and Wasps Netball.
It is taking place at the University of Bath Sports Training Village on Saturday, January 7, with three matches for spectators to enjoy. Tickets priced £12 for adults, £8 concessions and £35 for families are on sale now at
