Your Total Guide To sport
A scrum-half by trade, Williams began his professional career at Bath Rugby in his first of two stints at the club, before going on to sport the colours of Ospreys, Newport Gwent Dragons, Moseley and Worcester Warriors.
In one of his finest moments in the Blue, Black and White, Williams became somewhat of a hero when he scored a last-gasp match-winning try against Gloucester at Kingsholm in the 2005 Powergen Cup semi-final.
The former Bath number 9 was widely expected to make the final squad selection for the Wales national team in the 2003 rugby World Cup, after featuring in pre-tournament clashes against Ireland and Romania, but the Red Dragon decided instead to take just two specialist scrum-halves.
Williams' last national cap came against Australia in June 2007, a tie which ended in a 31-0 victory for the Wallabies in Brisbane.
In his latest venture following retirement from the game, Williams is now a lecturer at Bath College working with youngsters aged between 16 and 18.
His main teaching focuses on rugby development, helping young and upcoming players understand the game and nuture their potential.
