Video: The Bath Rugby Pack Take On Ricciardo's F1 Car

The rugby scrum is certainly a formidable place to find yourself, surrounded by muscle, testosterone and aggression at all angles. But, despite the trademark strength of the Bath scrum, could eight men take on the eight hundred horsepower of a Formula One car?

Red Bull and Bath Rugby teamed up to bring Australian racing star Daniel Ricciardo to Farleigh House, to face down the brute force of the Blue, Black and White at the base of the scrum.

The three time Grand Prix winner took to his double title winning RB8 racing car to undergo a test of pure strength and endurance. 

The contest, amazingly, was a rather even one, with the Bath Rugby men showing both brawn and brains in rivalling the machine.

England international tighthead Henry Thomas, a participating member in the scrum, said: "It’s not every day you get to do something like that. We love testing ourselves on the biggest stage but not many players can say they’ve scrummed down against a Formula One car”.

Ricciardo meanwhile expressed his excitement at having the opportunity to try something so different. 

"I was excited about the challenge as it’s definitely something I’ve never experienced before! Seeing the rugby players take their positions behind the scrum machine right in front of me was somewhat strange. But my competitiveness kicked in, the Honey Badger took over, and I was determined to beat them!," the Grand Prix star said.
